At Tularosa, we breed coloured suri, with a special interest in the true black and the silver grey suri. An hour and a half from Melbourne, you will find us here at 400 metre elevation in the Strathbogie Ranges, in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. The alpacas thrive up here, as in the altiplano of Peru.
We value these curious creatures, their low impact on our fragile Australian landscape and the lustrous, warm fibre that they produce. Generational improvement in the quality of this coloured suri fleece is our enduring aim.
Our black and grey fleece is selected for processing for chunky SuperSuri yarns. In addition, we are excited to be part of the story in producing fibre for new lines of fine designer knits: watch this space!
